We Think Differently.
A closer look at how The Plow plows.
In our day job we work for huge corporations that either stand out from the crowd or die. That’s a sobering perspective. And that’s why they turn to us. They have massive budgets and gargantuan challenges and yet they regularly turn to our little group in the corner of the country for the solutions they are seeking. Why? It’s because we focus on the audience, not the client. We spend our energy (and their money) figuring out who the real audience is and how they listen. The music they listen to, the movies they watch, the fears they have and the dreams they cling to. Then we create marketing that is consistent with how they process information. We’ve found that when we do that for churches, we’ve had similar results: people respond.
Hey, it’s not rocket science. But it is a bit profound as it turns out. Think about it for a second. Companies (churches/organizations) spend lots of time and money trying to tell people what to do or what to buy. And yet the consumer is pretty sure they know what they want or need. The key is to re-frame the discussion so that both parties are accomplishing their goals. It’s how you talk that is the secret to how people listen. Sound easy. It ain’t.
For a long list of Fortune 500 companies, we have become the agency that breaks the code for effectively communicating with audiences. After spending millions (or billions) on trying to cram their messages down people’s throats, they turn to us to for a softer, gentler approach. One that is consistent with how they think and live in real time. Not how an advertiser defines them. And isn’t that how you want to be treated: “Hey, is anyone out there really listening to me?”
Now let’s think about churches and ministry organizations for a moment. After all, you really don’t care if Budweiser is connecting with frat boys during a football game. But you should. Churches should be in tune with the world around them. For more than a century the Christian world spent all of its focus on trying to be an island. Today we want to be a community.
To do that, it takes insight and understanding. Superior communication tools. Smart, clever messaging. Bold graphics. Total comfort with social media. It’s about overcoming obstacles (“Church is boring and irrelevant”) and being a part of their discussions. Knocking down barriers. Becoming a part of the world around you while still maintaining a message of love and hope and freedom.
When it comes to helping churches, we aren’t expensive because we choose not to be. We want to help grow the kingdom. And we are proud of the part we play in that. Hey, we’re not for everyone, but if any of this makes sense, then we might be for you.
We’d love to talk about anything you want to talk about. The goal is to find out if we are a good fit: you with us, us with you.
